Macdonald School Dance Policy

  • The Student Council will be responsible to the Principal for the organization of school dances.
  • Admission will be by tickets purchased in advance only. Tickets will not be sold at the door, and students will not be admitted without a ticket.
  • On admission to the dance, each persons' hand will be stamped with an identifying mark.
  • At least one staff member or administrator will be present at the entrance at all times.
  • Students will not be allowed to re-enter the building after leaving.
  • Areas of the school that are out of bounds will be locked and checked periodically throughout the dance.
  • Guests will be admitted to the dance in accordance to a previously decided number, and must be accompanied by the person signing them in. Guests must also show some form of I.D. upon entrance to the dance. Guests who have been signed in are the responsibility of the person signing them in.

 

  • Dance supervision guidelines are as follows:
    • minimum two (2) uniformed police officers
    • minimum eight (8) staff or parent chaperones
    • at least one member of the Administration
    Inadequate supervision could result in dance cancellation.
  • School dances are open to "MAC" students and their guests only.
  • A coat check will be provided for students.
  • The doors open at 7:30 p.m. & close at 10:00 p.m. Dances are over at 11:00 p.m. Students must vacate the premises by 11:15 p.m.
  • There is no smoking at Macdonald dances, neither inside nor outside on the school property.
  • Electronic pagers/portable telephones are not permitted in the school at any time and will be confiscated at the door.
  • Any of the following: smoking, intoxication, possession of alcohol or drugs, vandalism, fighting or other unruly behaviour is unacceptable. Infractions will be dealt with by the Administration.
  • The Student Council will inform the Administration of any changes to dance dates or the promotion of dances to be held outside the school. Dances held off school property are not supported or sanctioned by the school.
  • Clean up duties are the responsibility of the Student Council and are not to be deemed complete until approved by the Custodial Staff.
