School Policies as of the 1999-2000 schoolyear:

Co-Curricular Policy

Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. offers a wide range of opportunities for students to become involved in co-curricular activities. In order to be eligible for such involvement, each student must meet the terms of the MAC Co-Curricular Contract.

Academic success is the primary goal at Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. Students must strive to achieve success in all subjects and meet all course requirements, such as assignments, presentations, tests and make-up tests. Failure in 2 or more subjects will result in withdrawal from all co-curricular activities.

The June report card determines eligiblity for the fall season. The December and March reports determine eligibility for winter and spring activities respectively.

Students who attend summer school and/or night school and then meet the school's standard are eligible.

Regular attendance and punctuality in class is imperative. Absences from class for other than school related activities will put one's co-curricular eligibility at risk. Attendance throughout the school day is mandatory on the day of the activity.

Early dismissal is a privilege and participants are to leave class only at the time so indicated.

Individuals suspended from school (including in-school suspensions) or withdrawn from an activity will not take part in any activity (practice/rehearsal) or early excusal related to the co-curricular group during the period of suspension/withdrawal.

Behaviour in and around the school and community will be of a positive manner.

Students must inform teachers, in advance, of absences related to co-curricular activity since good communication is vital to success. Students must be responsible for all work covered and assignments given during each absence.
