The Academic Resource Centre supports IPRC’d students who are formally identified as having a learning exceptionality, for example a communication or gifted designation. Listed below are examples of support available for IPRC’d students (formally identified through the IPRC process):


WHERE? Room 152 (in the TECH. Wing of Sir John A. Macdonald)


WHY? School boards are legally mandated to provide service to students with special needs. These students are entitled to modifications and/or accommodations in their program, as outlined in their IEP (Individual Educational Plan), as well as support from special education staff.


WHAT? Our three main areas of responsibility are:

DELIVERY of direct teaching, resource help.

CONSULTATION AND LIAISON: with students, parents, staff and other professionals.

ASSESSMENT of students’ progress.

WHO? We service approximately 50 IPRC’d (identified) students and 50 at-risk (non-identified) students through direct instruction (support period), monitoring or on an as-needed basis, before and after school.
