This course draws on a variety of frameworks, such as the ecozone framework, and principles of physical, human, and economic geography, to explore Canada's distinct and evolving character. Students will investigate the interconnections among the landforms, climate, soils, plants, animals, and human activities in Canadian ecozones to develop geographic knowledge and skills that contribute to an understanding of Canada's diversity and its role in the world.

This course is designed for residents of the planet earth. As inhabitants of this dynamic globe, we should all have a profound understanding of the forces that shape our earth. Students study in a systematic way the earth's physical features, the forces that affect the earth, and the elements of the biotic world. Opportunities are provided to examine how humans exploit, conserve, and enhance the physical world.

REGIONAL GEOGRAPHY - TRAVEL AND TOURISM - CGG3O

This course embraces the spirit of geography: fascination with other lands and the desire to travel and visit exotic places. Students study destinations that have attracted tourists. Exotic regions such as the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Alps, and the land of the Incas are studied. Students learn how to plan vacation trips. In addition, booking flights, reserving hotels, arranging rentals, selecting restaurants and places to see, and adapting to the culture are some of the skills that are introduced.

WORLD ISSUES: GEOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION - CGW4U

The major purpose of this course is to develop an awareness of the "global village" concept, a belief that events and issues on one side of the planet affect humans on the opposite hemisphere. Students examine major international issues such as terrorism, famine, drought, over-population, third world poverty, environmental decay, and nuclear disasters. This course offers students the opportunity to enter university with an enlightened understanding of the forces shaping human destinies around the world.

GEOMATICS: GEOTECHNOLOGIES IN ACTION - CGO4M

This course examines the approaches and techniques that geographers and other professionals use to acquire, manage, map, analyse, and communicate information about the Earth's surface. Students will receive a systematic introduction to the four pillars of geomatics - surveying, remote sensing, cartography, and geographic information systems (GIS) - and will learn how to apply their knowledge and skills to a variety of real-world situations relating to physical and human geography.
