will enable students to understand media communication in the twenty-first

the forms and messages of a variety of media works and audience responses

critical thinking skills, aesthetic and ethical judgment, and skills in
viewing, representing, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

OAC ENGLISH - ENGOAO:

This university preparation course emphasizes the
development of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking
skills through the study of essays and a balanced selection of poetry,
novels, short fiction, and drama. At least one-third of classroom time
is devoted to writing. Students continue to develop reading skills and
literary appreciation through course content. Classroom discussion and
oral presentations in both seminar and dramatic formats foster speaking
and listening skills. An independent study unit develops students' organizational
abilities and lets them examine an area of interest in depth.
