Minutes of February 26th, 2004

Welcome and Introductions:
Arlene welcomed all participants to the meeting

  1. Approval of the Agenda:
    The agenda was approved.
  2. Review of Minutes of Jan 8th, 2004
    Minutes approved.
  3. Principal’s Report:
    1. Newsletter and report cards were distributed on Feb 25th,
    2. Out of Area Enrolment:
      MAC’s projected enrolment for September 30th, 2004 is 1348 students. Budgets and staffing are based on the average projected enrolment for October 31st, 2004 and March 31st, 2005. Important to maintain limited designation, and to promote the medallion programme.
  4. Correspondence: Received as submitted.
    1. Buy a credit letter – reviewed and ready to be sent. The teachers who drafted the letter were thanked for their efforts.
    2. Macleans’ Top Canadian: A number of parents have nominated MAC.

    5. Feb 6th – Lottery process for MAC registrations.
  5. School Constitution:
    The school constitution was distributed for review and approved. Currently reviewing the option of making the constitution available on the school’s web site.
  6. New Business:
    1. Off site school events and parental permission:
      There was some confusion surrounding a recent off site school event. MAC has a protocol for parental permission needs.
    2. Future construction of subway as it relates to Mac students and the community: Arlene attended a meeting and brought us up to date on this issue.
    3. Grade 9 & 10 math results:
      Overall the students in both grades were very successful. In grade 9, 86% of the students in the academic classes and 77% of the students in applied level classes passed. In grade 10, 78% of the students in academic classes and 80% of the students in applied level classes passed.
